West African medicinal plants: a review of their antimalarial activity

Nowadays, the use of medicinal plants in fight against malaria must be based on scientific results safety and quality. However, reviews antiplasmodial activities West Africa recent years are rare. This study analyzes publications from 2010 to 2021 traditionally used antimalarial treatments Africa. A systematic search was carried out PubMed google scholar databases using following keywords: Malaria, Antiplasmodial activity, extract, plant, Africa; for articles published 2021. These concern ethnobotanical studies, tests, isolated molecules toxicity tests. total 8 African countries were explored 54 papers selected with 78 studied. Nigeria Burkina Faso recorded more work 28 7 respectively studied 31, 16 respectively. The most active extracts vitro tests found ethanolic Phyllanthus amarus Ipomoea purpurea an Inhibitory Concentratin 0.05 μg /mL 0.06 / mL. extract vivo is methanolic fraction Parkia biglobosa a 100% suppression rate at dose 100 mg/kg/Day. It clear that traditional pharmacopoeia potential source effective phytomedicines management malaria.
